Somewhere between a Kyoto ryokan and a Mediterranean courtyard home, a family residence in Singapore finds its own grounded footing.

The design language draws from multiple influences. A minimalist Nordic sensibility forms the foundation. It relies on a carefully considered material palette, muted tones, and true craftsmanship. Layered onto that clean base is the warmth of Southeast Asia. You see this through natural fibres, polished stone, beautifully crafted tiles, wall paneling and wainscoting. Together, these elements create a nuanced, distinctive space that refuses to stick to just one single style.

A strong sense of cultural anchoring ultimately ties everything together. Many contemporary interiors hesitate to embrace this trait. However, this home knows its identity, delivering a fresh, sophisticated take on the Japandi Mediterranean aesthetic.

The living, dining, and kitchen areas flow into a single, shared social volume. Across every room, the furniture draws from mid-century forms but with a much softer execution. Cream wardrobes and walnut accents keep the master bedroom grounded. In the secondary room, an earthy olive ceiling extends down the upper wall. It stops cleanly above the wardrobe line, making the space feel instantly cosy and held.
